Photography

For Titles, I created Weekend Getaways: The Vernacular Architecture of Suburbia. This is a limited edition book, hard-cover, cloth-bound with foil-blocked embossed type on the cover, of approximately 100 colour pages. The book attempts to define the styles, tropes or semiotic of suburbs primarily through photographs, annotations, automatic writing, rigidly designed text and partial diagrams. The content will simultaneously challenge and reinforce the stereotypes associated with some suburban life.

In collaboration with the Scarborough Arts Council and the East Scarborough Boys and Girls Club, this project aimed to provide an opportunity for young photographers to learn and express themselves while recording their reflections in the form of a podcast. This was presented in conjunction with CONTACT 2008.

While shooting the video of the same title, I shot a considerable number of digital photos of the landscape, sometimes of the same places, sometimes of different objects or spaces. This is the result.
